Lewis Capaldi backs search for missing Emma Faulds one week on from disappearance

Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi has backed the search for a missing Kilmarnock woman a week after her disappearance.

Emma Faulds was last seen in the town's Fullarton Street at around 8am on Monday, April 29.

Friends, family and the local community have been frantically searching for the 39-year-old after her shock disappearance, which police say is "completely out of character".

And now Lewis Capaldi, flying high of the success of his new single, has joined in the plea.

Sharing a missing person's post on Twitter, the singer said: "Please retweet! Hope Emma’s home safe and well soon!"

Pals have also been running an online campaign, #FindEmma, in a bid to keep her disappearance at the top of social media feeds and reminding the public she is still missing.

Last night, Lisa Maclean shared an image of Emma on Facebook.

She wrote: "Another night of going to bed with no news of Emma Faulds.

"Tomorrow marks a week our Emma has been missing.

"Keep Emma in our news feed and please keep sharing, someone must now where she is".

Claire Stevens added: "Please keep sharing and keep our news feeds full of finding Emma Faulds.

"She is not only my oldest friend but I consider Emma and her family my family #FindEmma".

And Kirsty Macleod added: "This is my fun loving, very much loved by everyone who meets her friend Emma Faulds.

"She has been missing since Monday 29th April from Kilmarnock.

"Emma is a friend to so many.....and a very much loved sister and daughter and we all miss her!

"We need Emma home safe and well.....please someone somewhere knows something!

"We are pleading for the public to keep sharing the posts and keep Emma at the top of all our news feeds! #FindEmma".

Emma is described as 5ft 3, of slim build with long blonde hair with a fringe, has a pale complexion and blue eyes. She is athletic and was known to go to the gym regularly.

Posting on Facebook, she wrote: "Someone has to know where she is! Please keep sharing my beautiful sisters face.

In a separate post Miriam posted snaps of Emma's car in the hope people may have seen her in it at the time of her disappearance.

She drives a metallic blue BMW car with a private number plate F5 EMA.

The community in Kilmarnock has rallied around the family since Emma vanished.

On Thursday a community gathering on Fullarton Street searched for any clues about the disappeance.

Speaking on Thursday, Inspector Iain Murray, Kilmarnock Police Office, said: "It is completely out of character for Emma to not be in touch with family and friends, she has a large circle of friends and is very sociable in nature.

"Our officers are carrying out a number of enquiries, including searching through CCTV footage and speaking with those who know her to try and trace her.

"She is known in the Kilmarnock, Glasgow and Paisley areas and therefore we are also working with bus companies and British Transport Police in case she has travelled."

Cops also urged anyone wanting to search for Emma to liaise with police so that any searches can be coordinated to maximise effectiveness.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101, quoting incident number 2412 of Tuesday, April 30.
