Lewis Capaldi announces Newcastle date on new 31-date UK and European tour with tickets on sale within days

Chart topper Lewis Capaldi will be playing Newcastle early next year with tickets for the show - in support of a new album - going on sale next week.

The Someone You Loved star announced details this Tuesday evening of a whopping 31-date UK and European tour which will get under way in Leeds on January 14 and bring him to the Utilita Arena on January 21. Tickets will be released for pre-sale on Wednesday, October 26 then go on general sale on two days later on October 28.

The tour reveal - which coincides with the release of a new acoustic video version of current single Forget Me - is set to generate huge excitement among fans of the Glaswegian singer-songwriter and musician who has also announced a new album, called Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, which will follow the tour on May 19.

The album will include Forget Me - the instant number one silver certified hit, his third, which saw Capaldi back in the charts last month and remains in the top three - and is the eagerly-awaited follow up to his debut, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, which proved the biggest-selling UK album of both 2019 and 2020.

This time around, he is out to emulate the no-frills laid-bare honesty of the first. He says: “I don't want to create a new sound for myself, or reinvent myself.

“The songs I want to write are emotional songs, about love or loss.” And to help him do just that he established a simple recording set-up, explaining: “I felt like I was sounding better because I was just chilled out in my own gaff."

With Grammy and BRI nominations under his belt, and becoming one of the first artists to sell out Wembley Arena in London - ahead of his debut album, he continues to impress: headlining his first ever festivals and selling out two nights at London's O2 Arena last month, ahead of his upcoming full arena tour.

And he can't wait. He said of it: “I'm ready - and so are the songs.”
