Lewandowski is said to be interviewed in Senate Russia probe

WASHINGTON _ Corey Lewandowski, Donald Trump's onetime presidential campaign manager, was questioned Wednesday behind close doors by the Senate Intelligence Committee, according to a person familiar with the interview.

The committee, like its House counterpart, has been looking into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election and whether there was any collusion within the Trump camp.

Lewandowski, who served as Trump's campaign manager until being fired in June 2016, didn't respond to requests for comment.

He is just the latest former Trump campaign aide to have been interviewed by the Senate panel, joining former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. Lewandowski has denied having any contact with Russian officials during the campaign.

Across the Capitol on Wednesday, the House Intelligence Committee called in two executives of a firm that helped produce an opposition-research dossier that made salacious claims about Trump's ties to Russia. But both men refused to answer questions in a private meeting with panel staffers and one of the panel's members, Republican Rep. Tom Rooney of Florida.
