Levi officially departs the Knights to link with arch-rival Manly

Unwanted Danny Levi's five year stint with the Newcastle Knights is over with the former Kiwi Test hooker set to train with new club Manly for the first time on Wednesday.

Levi has signed a one year deal with the Sea Eagles with the Knights officially announcing his departure from the club on Tuesday afternoon.

It came after Levi addressed the playing group at training earlier in the day to say his farewells.

Despite having a year remaining on his $375,000 contract, he has been on the outer at the Knights since the middle of last season when he was told he was free to negotiate with rival NRL clubs.

He was all set to join the Parramatta Eels late last year before the deal fell over at the 11th hour and it appeared he may have to remain in Newcastle for 2020 despite the club signing Jayden Brailey from Cronulla as number one hooker.

But Manly kicked off negotiations several weeks ago and struck a deal after the Knights agreed to pay $150,000 for the hooker to leave.

He spent five seasons with the Knights, playing 83 NRL games.
