Leverkusen manager discusses interest in Kai Havertz amid Manchester United and Man City links

Bayer Leverkusen manager Peter Bosz has discussed the future of star midfielder Kai Havertz amid reports linking the youngster with both Manchester United and Manchester City .

The 20-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most talented youngsters in the world and now enjoys a prominent first-team role after graduating from the club's youth academy.

Last season was the finest of Havertz's career thus far, scoring 17 goals in 34 appearances from midfield, as well as notching four assists for his teammates.

As a result, multiple reports claim both Manchester clubs as well as Liverpool , Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are keeping tabs on his situation at Leverkusen.

Bosz believes only the player himself can decide when he feels is the right time to move on and where he would be able to develop best.

"Of course I would like to keep him, just as I would have liked to keep Julian Brandt, for example," he told Sport Bild .

"Kai is only 20 and still has room for improvement. I can help him there.

"But it is like this, at the end the player himself must feel when he is ready for the next step.

"Nobody can decide that for him."

Havertz has refused to be drawn on the speculation regarding his future but admitted he would take advice from Germany manager Joachim Low on his next move.

He said: "I listen to many people but in the end it will be my decision.

"I will embrace any advice Low will give me because he has a lot experience – it wouldn’t be smart to not listen to him."
