Leven Car Company: One dealership closes as discussions advance on Edinburgh sites

The administrators of Leven Cars Company have confirmed that the Selkirk Kia and Suzuki dealerships have now closed – with 23 people losing their jobs.

Talks are ongoing in relation to the Edinburgh sites at Sighthill and Corstorphine, and it's hoped that the "significant interest" shown in them will lead to a sale.

Administrators Stuart Robb and Michelle Elliot of Leonard Curtis Business Rescue and Recovery Glasgow said that they are in advanced discussions with a number of parties.

Edinburgh Live reported last week how the company had entered administration, with 140 jobs put at risk.

Leven Car Company's Corstorphine showroom holds the Rolls-Royce franchise for Scotland, while the group also holds the franchise for Aston Martin.

And administrators this week issued an update, confirming that the Kia and Suzuki dealerships in Selkirk will close but works are continuing to find a buyer for the other sites.

Stuart Robb said: "We appreciate that this is disappointing news for the staff based at Selkirk. Our focus is to ensure that those employees affected by redundancy there will receive the best support possible. We're working with partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) to support them.

"In terms of the remaining parts of the business, there has been significant interest and we are in advanced discussions with a number of parties. We would like to thank the employees for their continued patience and support during this difficult period. Rest assured, we will endeavour to provide them with an update as soon as possible."
