'Levels' - Leeds United fans say the same thing after Chelsea lose to Liverpool

The rivalry between Chelsea and Leeds United is going to be an interesting one to watch this season.

It is not your regular local rivalry, but in fact more a rivalry between club and manager.

The animosity is between Leeds United supporters and Frank Lampard and stems from his time as Derby County manager in 2018/19.

After spygate, in which Marcelo Bielsa was widely criticised for sending spies to Derby's training ground and openly admitting he had done it before, Lampard's Rams then beat the Whites in the play-off semi-final.

It was a win that led to crazy celebrations from the Derby County players and management team and was ultimately premature as they went on to lose the final to Aston Villa.

Lampard was then snapped up by Chelsea and now, a year into the job, the Blues and Whites are in the same league.

And there is bound to be plenty of social media back and forth between the two sets of fans.

That is already apparent.

Leeds narrowly lost out to Liverpool 4-3 on the opening weekend of the Premier League season. And just a week later it was Chelsea's turn to face the champions.

The Leeds supporters took great delight in the Blues losing 2-0, with Lampard's team only managing five shots in the entire game at home, with the Reds engineering 18 shots on goal.

Leeds had managed one more shot than that against the champions the previous week, scoring three goal and their approach to the game in comparison to Chelsea's was something the fans appreciated.

After only two games, Leeds are above Lampard's Chelsea in the table, another fact that the supporters took great delight in making sure the Blues fans knew.

It is early days, but this rivalry is set to go on and on.
