Level 3 lockdown update: The five Dublin covid redzone hotstops coined Ireland's most dangerous

One west Dublin area remains the most infected in the capital but has lost its place as Ireland's most dangerous area.

Ongar reported the highest incidence rate of the virus last week with 440 cases per 100,000 but that has since dropped to 418.

The westside suburb has been overtaken by the two Donegal towns Milford (675) and Letterkenny (594) in new data taken from April 13 to 26th.

In even more promising news for the capital, Ongar comes in at fourth place behind Nenagh in Tipperary (449) but the rest of the top ten is flooded with Dublin areas.

Blanchardstown-Mulhuddart (357); Ballymun-Finglas and Castleknock (304) and Lucan (290) all fill up other spots on the top ten.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin has said that the new set of rules announced by the Government yesterday could be described as 'Level 3 plus'.

Speaking yesterday after he addressed the nation, he maintained that "outdoor is the theme".

He said: "The key thing is outdoor is healthier in terms of avoiding getting the virus as opposed to indoor activities.

“So that has meant some variation on strictly from going from Level 5 to 4 to 3. You could describe it maybe as a Level 3 plus and there are variations but the overall framework is very helpful to us in terms of making these decisions.”
