Leukaemia patient, 10, who was granted his wish of being Batkid for a day now cancer free

Batkid steps out of the 'Batmobile'

A ten-year-old leukaemia patient who captivated the world five years ago with his wish to be Batkid for a day is now cancer free.

Miles Scott, emulated his favourite superhero in 2013 with help from San Francisco’s press and police who put out a call for Batkid to help fight crimes around town.

Thousands of people lined the streets in support of the child’s adventure and local news TV channels followed the action live.

Make a Wish foundation confirmed that Miles is now in cancer free and has been in remission for five years.

Miles Scott is now in remission and is a 'typical kid'

The foundation said on its website: “Miles has returned to being a typical kid – playing little league, going to school, helping his family farm, and even selling his first market goat in the local fair!

“Now 10 years old and in fifth grade, Miles loves science and robotics.

"After fighting his own heroic battle with Leukaemia since he was a year old, Miles visits his oncologist once a year, and has been in remission from leukaemia for the past five years.”

During his day as Batkid, he rescued a damsel in distress from cable car tracks in Nob Hill, before arresting villain the Puzzler for robbing a downtown vault.

He received messages from then president Barack Obama and astronauts on the International Space Station.

At the time, his mother Natalie said: “This wish has meant closure for our family and an end to over three years of putting toxic drugs in our son’s body.”

In 2015, a documentary documenting the day was released titled Batkid begins.
