A friend of tragic Manus Kelly has heartbreakingly recalled his attempt to save the rally driver's life.
The dad-of-five died in a crash on Sunday while competing in the Donegal International Rally.
Councillor John O'Donnell, who is mayor of Letterkenny, was in one of the cars behind Mr Kelly when the collision happened.
Mr O'Donnell broke down on local radio while telling of the efforts to save the newly-elected councillor.
He said: "I had the first aid training from the construction side of things.

"I had to step up to the plate, to see was there anything I could do for him.
"No, it wasn't to be. It definitely wasn't to be."
He told Highland Radio: "If there was anything we could have done, we'd have done it in our power, we tried and worked really hard (to save Manus).
"Full credit to all our competitors there, we took instructions to see was there anything we could do, but unfortunately there was no glimmer of hope.

"He's in a better place now, we said a few prayers over Manus, for God to take him to a better place, and for his family - it's heartbreaking."
Meanwhile, funeral arrangements for the popular businessman have been announced.
The Glenswilly man, known locally as 'Mandy', will repose at his home from Tuesday at 11am.
His funeral mass will take place on Thursday at noon in St Columba's church Glenswilly followed by burial in Conwal Cemetery.
