Stuart Gordon attended Bedlington grammar school, Northumberland, where I was also a pupil. There, his talent as a violinist was nurtured – as were the talents many young musicians who went on to greater things – by the late Tom Hedderly, director of the school orchestra. Stuart is also fondly remembered as co-founder with his brother Keith of a rock band, the Lynx, whose music provided the soundtrack for many a school Christmas shindig.
