In 2000, my wife, Frances, then working nearby, chanced upon the Wapping Project and we visited many times during its 13-year life. During that period we celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and other special events there and took visitors from Britain and overseas. Jules Wright always made us feel welcome in this splendid place.

Among many stunning exhibits were “over-lifesize” images of and a film about 9/11, and an evocation of the A13. Then there was the astonishing time when the whole basement was flooded with water so that visitors could be rowed around a large sculpture. One year, we visited as a pre-Christmas treat and Jules, who was going to spend the holidays away in Berlin, gave us a lovely flower display that had been sent to her. We and many others were very sorry when the venture closed.
