Watching Blue Peter as a child in the 1960s I recall Valerie Singleton introducing short pieces about historical figures and events, simply illustrated, with the words “John Nettleton tells the story.” The storyboard drawing format called for a highly effective narrator, and it was not until Yes Minister that I was able put a face to the voice.
