In October 1971 I was lucky enough to see Danielle Darrieux in the short-lived musical Ambassador at Her Majesty’s theatre, London. The show, which also starred Howard Keel, was a version of Henry James’s The Ambassadors. It was not very good, and only survived a couple of months, but the stars were captivating – especially Darrieux.
