Letitia Wright has deleted her Twitter account after being criticised for sharing an anti-vaccination video.
Last week, the Black Panther star, who most recently appeared in Steve McQueen's Small Axe series, shared a 70-second clip that threw the safety and effectiveness of a potential Covid-19 cure into question.
At one point in the clip, taken from YouTube series On The Table, presenter Tomi Arayomi says: “I don’t understand vaccines medically, but I’ve always been a little bit of a sceptic of them.”
Wright then posted a link to the video alongside a “praying hands” emoji.
After facing backlash for the post from her followers, Wright stated it was “valid” to “simply ask what’s in [a vaccine]”.
“If you don’t conform to popular opinions. but ask questions and think for yourself....you get cancelled,” she wrote shortly after.
She then deleted her social media accounts after writing: “My intention was not to hurt anyone, my ONLY intention of posting the video was it raised my concerns with what the vaccine contains and what we are putting in our bodies. Nothing else."
In Black Panther, Wright plays Shuri, the sister of Chadwick Boseman’s King T’Challa.
The Independent has contacted the actor’s representatives for comment.
