Pubs, shops, and restaurants will be allowed to reopen from Monday, April 12 in the next stage of the government’s roadmap.
Businesses such as hairdressers, gyms, non-essential shops and beauty salons will be allowed to welcome customers back as planned.
There will be no curfew and no requirement of a substantial meal while at a pub, although hospitality will be limited to outdoor service only until May 17.
In a recent update from Downing Street, the prime minister confirmed the government is satisfied for restrictions to continue to be eased and allow for more freedoms.
He said: “On Monday the 12th I will be going to the pub myself and cautiously but irreversibly raising a pint to my lips.”
Outdoor gatherings will continue to be restricted to six people and care home residents are permitted to welcome a second visitor from April 12.

While there is currently no data to suggest the government should deviate from the roadmap, the chief medical officer has warned that the country will encounter “significant problems with Covid for the foreseeable future".
Professor Chris Whitty added, however, that science has made headway in "de-risking" the virus.
