Let us know how the Facebook, Instagram & WhatsApp outage impacted you

People across the world were without Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp for seven hours yesterday after a blackout due to a technical issue.

The platforms were unavailable from Monday afternoon before slowly being restored late in the night and early hours of Tuesday morning.

People were unable to contact family and friends and reverted to SMS to keep in touch with those they needed to.

A lot of people also took to Twitter to joke and complain about the outage.

A statement reads: "To the huge community of people and businesses around the world who depend on us: we’re sorry.

"We’ve been working hard to restore access to our apps and services and are happy to report they are coming back online now. Thank you for bearing with us."

Users were able to access Facebook and Instagram from late on Monday evening, while WhatsApp said just after midnight its services were “slowly and carefully” being restored.

At 3.30am, WhatsApp confirmed its services were “back and running at 100%”.
