The Lantern Art Festival 2022 illuminated Samyan Mitrtown's retail space for several weeks last month, displaying a collection of 10 multicoloured enormous lanterns by 10 new-wave illustrators under the theme "Samyan Mitrlight Garden", paying homage to the subtle lifestyles of the inhabitants of nearby Chula 42.
The artist line-up included Supitcha Senarak, Nuttawat Suphannakul, Naruemon Yimchavee, Pinthira Taechamongkalapiwat, Krittika Wattanatian, Visansaya Loisawai, Ladaporn Sapphakakul, Khontarat Techatrisorn, Napath Kuntaruck and Tunlaya Dunnvatanachit.
"Billing itself as the Creative Place Making Space that supports the creativity of all generations, Samyan Mitrtown invited 10 enthusiastic young-gen artists with unique artistic signatures to create their artworks on 10 giant lanterns by reflecting the transformation of stories through a variety of colours of flowers and seasonal changes," said Thiranant Kornsritipa, executive vice-president of retail business development of Frasers Property Commercial (Thailand).
"These art pieces encourage and inspire us and to be full of liveliness and positive power. It also supports university students by offering the art space to showcase their artistic creations. The event features lots of entertainment including open music, mini-concerts of famous artists every week, and art markets with products designed by your favourite artists."
During the weekends of the festival, the shopping mall turned some space into the "All About Art Market", where must art lovers could enjoy a variety of workshops and exhibitions of art, design as well as handicrafts as well as food and beverage.
