'Let's try and keep it going' - Neal Ardley wants Notts County to continue impressive form after Maidenhead thrashing

Neal Ardley challenged his Notts County side to maintain their impressive form as they produced some Christmas sparkle to thrash Maidenhead at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies were 3-0 up in the opening 45 minutes thanks to an irresistible first-half display as Neal Ardley’s side recorded back to back victories for the first time in the league since October.

Kyle Wootton opened the scoring with  a terrific header before Sam Osborne rounded off a devastating counter attack with a peach of a finish into the top corner.

Kristian Dennis then made the game safe just before the interval following some excellent approach play by winger Enzio Boldewijn.

Ardley was happy with the performance especially at a time when injuries are biting hard.

“Some people expected us to win but I had a feeling it would be tough and I got that across to the boys,” explained Ardley.

“We had to do fitness tests this morning, so I didn’t know the team until midday.

“We’d done our homework but hadn’t been able to train it due to injuries, so we gave the boys information this afternoon and their execution was great.

“We did really well at getting the ball into spaces behind them and did loads of good stuff in the first half, before seeing it out in the second.

“We’re doing a lot of things right consistently and we just need to try and keep it going.”
