'Let's have a battle to see who's best' - What the pundits say about Leeds United and their promotion rivals

Leeds United returned to the top of the Championship over the weekend as they took advantage of West Brom's goalless draw with Swansea City.

With Fulham and Nottingham Forest both dropping points, Leeds and the Baggies are now sitting pretty in the race for the top two.

Here are how pundits reacted to last weekend's games.

Neil Warnock

Warnock backed Leeds United to go on and win the league having rediscovered their ability to keep clean sheets.

He told EFL on Quest: "I think that has probably been their weakness at times, clean sheets.

"They have been sloppy at times. But the league is such now, that they had a bad spell, have come back and are now cruising again.

"They have got five wins on the trot and they look unstoppable again.

"No disrespect to the league, but there is not a Wolves in it this year.

"There isn’t somebody running away with it. Leeds have got every opportunity to go and win the league now."

Andy Hinchcliffe

Former Man City and Everton left-back Hinchcliffe told Sky Sports' EFL podcast Nottingham Forest need to forget about automatic promotion and instead focus on the play-offs.

"Looking at Forest's season and comparing them to the other sides we expected to challenge for the top two, I never felt they had the balance quite right," he said.

"Defensively they're quite strong but there's the reliance on Joe Lolley and Lewis Grabban to get the goals.

"That's why I felt they were always likely to fall away.

"They're where they deserve to be, in the top six, but they're not as good as Leeds and West Brom."

Not the Top 20

George Elek said on Not the Top 20 that he cannot look past Leeds and West Brom in the race for promotion.

He said: "I think we can all agree that these are the only two sides going up automatically here unless one of them really falls apart.

"I'm all up for a title battle, let's have a proper battle to see who is the best, according to the table, at the end of the season."
