'Let's call it a draw' - West Ham fans react to Manchester City postponement due to Storm Ciara

West Ham's clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium has been postponed due to poor weather.

The club confirmed that the match was called off on Twitter due to safety concerns caused by extreme weather conditions.

The Hammers were due to take on the Premier League champions at 4.30pm on Sunday, but the game cannot go forward due to Storm Ciara, which is currently battering the UK.

Manchester City released the following statement:

"Due to extreme and escalating weather conditions and in the interests of supporter and staff safety, today’s match has been postponed.

"This decision has been made by Manchester City’s Safety Officer following consultation with club stakeholders and officials at West Ham United.

"Further information regarding the rescheduling of today’s match will be published in due course."

West Ham have confirmed that tickets purchased for today's fixture will remain valid for the rearranged fixture, with further details to follow in due course.

While the fans who had already started making the trip to Manchester were not exactly thrilled about the late cancellation, some supporters from both sides were at least trying to find the positives.

A number of fixtures have been cancelled across the country, including the match between West Ham and Manchester City's women's teams in the WSL - though the Premier League fixture between Sheffield United and Bournemouth is still set to go ahead.

Meanwhile, City are facing a headache with their fixture calendar, as their qualification for the Carabao Cup final means a league game against Arsenal also has to be rescheduled.

The Premier League champions face a minimum of 17 games between now and the end of the season, plus potential games in the next round of the FA Cup and Champions League.
