In 2021, India’s government claimed that only 3.3 lakh people died of Covid-19. But latest government data suggests that 20 lakh more people died that year – a massive gap that many journalists and researchers pointed out, only to be trolled and dismissed.

Some, like the late Pulitzer-winning photojournalist, Danish Siddiqui, captured the horrific reality of mass cremations, and were labelled “vultures” for it.
