BHOPAL: A total of 37 new Covid-19 positive cases were reported in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. Only 5,885 samples were tested in the state in the day. Against these 37 new cases, only 43 people recovered from the disease. Thus the number of active patients rose to 232 on May 17. It was 226 on May 18.
From 136 active cases on March 31, there are now 226 active cases. Thus in one-and-a-half month, active cases have increased by more than 66% in the state. A couple of days ago on May 16, it was after two months that the number of active patients in the state had crossed 250-mark as 262 active patients were reported.
New infections were reported from as many as 13 of the 52 districts of the state. Among the districts, 11 new cases were reported from Bhopal, six new cases were reported from Indore, four new cases were reported from Rajgarh, three new cases were reported each from Gwalior, Hoshangabad and Jabalpur districts. Besides, one new case was reported each from Chhatarpur, Datia, Guna, Khargone, Morena, Shivpuri and Tikamgarh districts. Positivity rate of 0.6% was reported. Positivity rate is the number of people testing positive out of every 100 samples tested. The 37 recoveries took the count of recoveries so far in the state to 10,31,063.
