Lesmahagow hope to appoint a new manager soon, after Robert Irving stepped down to move on to the club’s committee.
At 54, Irving says it’s time for someone else to take charge of the West of Scotland League club, as he moves to the committee alongside goalkeeper coach Eric Watson.
He says they have had about a dozen applications for the post, which had a closing date of today, and they will sift through them on Thursday night before deciding their next steps.
He said: “It was always going to be the case that Eric and I were going to move on to the committee to help the club out, because we’re really struggling for numbers on the committee.
"We had spoken about it for a while and felt the time was right now, allow a new manager to come in and give him time to build a team for next season.
“Our president George Brownlie just turned 80, our treasurer is 84, we’ve got two committee men at 78 and 74, and you’re asking those boys to stand at gates in pouring rain on a Saturday and things like that. It just couldn’t continue.
“It was always going to be a gradual progression for me and Eric.
“I was lucky enough that I played for ’Gow, I was manager, assistant manager, so it’s time to help the club and just keep it going, give them more numbers in the committee room and do what you’ve got to do on match days.”
Irving added: “I think there have been about a dozen applications, so we’re going to have a meeting on Thursday to decide what’s going to happen after that."
