Lesmahagow kick-off their pre-season friendly programme with a clash against Albion Rovers at Craighead Park this evening – and can have up to 250 fans there.
The game kicks off at 7pm and boss Neil Schoneville hopes for a decent crowd, to get a bit of atmosphere about the ground and says the whole village is excited about the prospect.
Schoneville is gearing up for the West of Scotland League starting on July 17, has 20 players signed and is also looking at trialists.
“It’s all going well, everything’s shaping up and we play our first game on Thursday night,” he said.
“We’re playing Albion Rovers reserves and we’re looking forward to that.
“It will be a good test and we’ll see where we’re standing with our players etc, so it will be really good.
“Fans are back in as well, so that’s another bonus – because we’re level two we can get 250 fans in, so it will be good.
“There’s a bit of excitement around the village for the first game in over a year.
“Having people in would be great, a wee bit of atmosphere about the place, and everybody’s buzzing for it, so it’s a good one, and a good one to start with.
“We play Royal Albert next Friday night at Lesmahagow again, and then the Newmains tournament.
“We have a game against Kilsyth Rangers, and we’re just waiting on confirmation of another friendly against Rutherglen Glencairn, so that will be us sorted for games, and takes us to about eight friendlies there, before the season starts.
“Hopefully we can get fans in for the start of the season as well – if it all goes to plan they’re looking to be in level zero by the end of June, aren’t they, so hopefully fans will be back in, changing rooms will be back open and it will be back to normal.”
