Beauty Queens Mariana Varela and Fabiola Valentín, who represented Argentina and Puerto Rico in 2020, are now married. The duo who have kept their lesbian romance a secret since a long time, finally tied the knot and shared the news on social media.
Mariana Varela and Fabiola Valentín, who were Miss Argentina 2020 and Miss Puerto Rico 2020, respectively, exchanged rings on October 28, 2022. According to reports, the duo were dating each other secretly since two years, before they decided to take the plunge.
"After deciding to keep our relationship private, we opened the doors to them on a special day 28/10/22," read their social media post, alongside a video of the duo.
As per a report by Hola! Varela and Valentín met at the beauty pageant Miss Grand International 2020, and have remained friends after the end of the pageant. The two often share photos together, especially in recent months. Varela represented Argentina in 2019’s Miss Universe and ended up in the top 10 positions at the Miss Grand International 2020. She’s been a model for various campaigns and has also worked on different initiatives that battle gender violence. Valentín also made it to the top 10 at the Miss Grand International 2020. She works with multiple modeling agencies, including once located in Miami.
"Congratulations to both of you. MGIO always support 'LOVE' without boundaries," wrote Miss Grand International in an Instagram post. They also added a heart emoticon.
“Omg congratulations MGI brought together a beautiful union,” wrote Abena Akuaba, the Ghanian model who won the pageant in 2020.
Same-sex marriage has been legal in Puerto Rico since 2015, while Argentina legalised it only in 2010.
