Les Snead’s internet went out 10 picks before Rams were up

Rams general manager Les Snead came into the draft optimistic about the virtual format and didn’t expect there to be any glitches or hiccups while working from home. He said the mock draft this week went well and he didn’t experience any issues.

Until a little while before the Rams were slated to pick on Friday night, of course.

Snead said his internet went out about 10 picks before the Rams were set to go on the clock at No. 52, which was bad timing. But fortunately, he had an IT manager at his house for the draft in case something like this happened.

Poor timing? Yes. But did it have an impact on the Rams’ draft operation? Fortunately, no.

The NFL has done a good job with this new draft setup, from the operation at commissioner Roger Goodell’s home to the setups in every coach and GM’s house. This is an example of the Rams being prepared for a worst-case scenario, and thankfully Snead was able to get his internet back up and running before the Rams picked.
