The hit West End show is taking over Newcastle for nearly two months from this week and you can pretend you're in the Les Miserables cast thanks to some themed dance classes coming to the city.
Cameron Mackintosh’s international award winning musical and Geordie fans of Les Mis have an opportunity to get involved in a number of workshops.
Workshops will be ran at Dance City by talented local lass Jamie Birkett who is currently part of the cast of the show as Madame which opens on Tyneside on Thursday, August 15.
Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, the Les Miserables includes the songs, I Dreamed a Dream, On My Own, Bring Him Home, Do You Hear the People Sing? and many more.
Jamie, originally from Newcastle, studied at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and went on to star in shows including The Play That Goes Wrong at the Duchess Theatre, Carabosse in Sleeping Beauty for Qdos at Swansea Grand Theatre and Lady Macbeth in Macbeth International Tour. Jamie also appeared on BBC’s I'd Do Anything.
She will run sessions in association with Nice Swan Academy of Performing and Dramatic Arts who have previously ran workshops themed around Mamma Mia, Hairspray and Mary Poppins when the professional shows have visited the region.
Sessions will run at Dance City on Sunday, September 15 focusing on songs and routines from the show for both children and adults.
Sessions will be split into 8-11, 12-15 and 16+ and cost £20 per person.
