A retrospective of seminal graphic designer Les Mason’s work will launch National Gallery of Victoria’s Design Studio. Known as the father of graphic design, Mason revolutionised the advertising industry in the 1960s by establishing graphic design as a profession in and of itself.
Born in California, he moved to Melbourne in 1961 and set up his own studio. He famously designed iconic packaging, such as the yellow and black Solo can and the covers of Melbourne’s first food and wine magazine, The Epicurean.
