Les Gray lays out the stark Premiership 'reality' as Hamilton chief raises season ticket fears

Hamilton vice-president Les Gray admits that Premiership football may not be able to return until October, as he lays out his fears over season tickets.

Fans across the country have been snapping up season tickets early in a bid to help their clubs through the coronavirus shutdown.

But the prospect of a quick return to action appears less and less realistic with Hamilton chief Les Gray admitting during a live radio interview that the SPFL board - on which he sits - fears football may remain in complete lock-down until October.

Gray said: “What we have is a situation where fans are being asked to buy season tickets for a season we don’t know when it’ll kick off.

“As a board, we have looked long and hard at the medical evidence, government evidence and so on. Whether we have gone too early or not will only be borne out in time.

“But the reality is I don’t think we will be playing football again before September/October. That’s my view. It would also be the view of the majority of the board. There is only one board member who doesn’t think that.”
