Les Dennis ' spat with a fan on Twitter has sparked a social media sensation.
The former Coronation Street star, 66, blasted a tweet from a father named Rick who claimed to have met the star in person today.
Rick wrote: "Met @LesDennis today in the Brewers Fayre in Warrington. What a disappointment!!!! Refused to have a picture with me and swore at my 2 year old son. #Disappointed"
In response, Les went on to share the tweet and deny he was there.
Les tweeted: "No you didn't. I am at home and have been all day. Don’t lie."
Following the tweet, social media users saw the funny side and started sharing some other tall tales about encounters with Les Dennis.
One wrote on Twitter: "Hello is that Heat Magazine? I just spotted Les Dennis, the comedian and impressionist and actor Les Dennis. I just spotted him shopping in New Bond Street, and he was spending a f***ing shit load of cash alright? So put that in, make sure you put that in."
Another tweeted:" I met Les Dennis in a cave in Colwyn Bay. He refused to tie my laces for me as he claimed he didn’t do ‘freebies’ in dimly lit bat infested welsh holes. He kicked my dog up the a**e and threatened if I ever used that cave again he’d eat my family #disappointed "
Meanwhile, another joked: " @LesDennis I met Les Dennis today, he was in his shed crossing the coronavirus with ice cream, he then sold the ice cream to my pet cat #disappointed ".
Another social media user commented: "I bumped into Les Dennis in a Norfolk Supermarket. He had single-handedly scooped up all the toilet rolls into 15 trolleys he had chained together like a train. He threatened to "gut me like a fish" if I touched any of them. #disappointed "
Finally, one concluded: "This has absolutely sent me, I MUST know why a random tweeter has decided to start a smear campaign against Les Dennis."
