Leroy Sane spotted with badly swollen lip after Sadio Mane 'punch'

Bayern Munich attacker Leroy Sane was spotted with a swollen lip after a confrontation with former Liverpool star Sadio Mane.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night following their 3-0 defeat in the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City. It was reported that the ex-Red was upset by the manner he was spoken to after a passage of play late in their clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Further developments revealed that the matter led to a ‘loud discussion’ taking place between the pair after the game. After Mane voiced his complaints, the pair had to be ‘separated’ and after the 31-year-old is said to have landed a punch on the lip of the former Manchester City forward.

On Thursday, Bayern moved to suspend the Senegal star, issued a fine and left him out of the matchday squad to face TSG Hoffenheim this weekend. Following the announcement from the reigning Bundesliga champions, it emerged that the former Manchester City forward asked the punishment for Mane was lenient.

The encounter at the Allianz Arena on Saturday provided the first insight into the bust-up between two of Thomas Tuchel's attackers. And the German international was spotted with a swollen lip following the altercation with Mane by Optus Sport.

"I am the first one to defend Sadio. I have known him a long time and I know him as a top pro," Tuchel told a news conference this week. "He is football pure. He has my deepest trust after the mistake he made."

"Everyone can make a mistake. It went against the team's code of conduct. That's clear."

Bayern were held by Hoffenheim as Benjamin Pavard netted before Andrej Kramaric equalised but it remains to be seen when Mane will return to action in Bavaria with their second-leg against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday.
