Leopardstown stabbing sees woman hospitalised and man arrested

A woman was rushed to hospital today after a stabbing in south Dublin.

The incident happened this afternoon and the woman is believed to have suffered several stab wounds.

A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene of the incident, which took place in Levmoss Park, Leopardstown – a stone's throw from a local primary school.

The woman, in her 30s, suffered non life-threatening injuries as a result of the attack, which occurred at around 1.30pm today.

The scene was quickly sealed off by Gardai, who carried out enquiries in the houses around the area.

Garda officers with the technical bureau also performed a forensic examination of the surroundings as part of their investigation today.

A Garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "Gardai in Stepaside were called to an alleged assault incident this afternoon."

They added that the victim was taken to St Vincent's Hospital to be treated for her injuries.

"One man (40s) was arrested at the scene and taken to Dundrum GS where he is currently detained under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984."
