FATEHABAD: A male leopard entered a house in Kukrawali village of Fatehabad district on Tuesday night and was later rescued by the forest department after a six-and-a-half hour operation. During the operation, the leopard moved from one house to another and also injured a villager with its claws.
The leopard was first spotted by a woman at a cattle shed, after which she informed her relatives. After receiving the information, a 14-member forest team led by divisional wildlife officer Ved Prakash reached the village at around 8 am.
Besides Fatehabad, nets were arranged from Hisar, Sirsa and Bhiwani districts. After this, the operation was started under the command of forest department inspector Jayvindra Nehra. The team laid nets and tried to shoot the leopard with a tranquilizer gun, but it stuck. A spare gun was used.
