Leopard barges into house in UP's Bijnor, rescued

BIJNOR: As teams from the forest department continue to trace a maneater leopard in Bijnor, a big cat barged into a house in Sherkot town of Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district on Friday night.

As per officials, a leopard entered a house owned by Mohammad Chhonu in Hakiman Mohalla late on Friday night. On spotting the cat, Chhonu locked the room and immediately informed police and local forest teams.

Forest teams rushed to the spot and captured the feline using a net. Sub-divisional forest officer Gyan Singh said, “A forest team rescued a leopard from Sherkot, and it will be released into the forest area.”

Notably, a massive hunt is on to capture a maneater leopard in parts of the district after 13 deaths due to leopard attacks were reported in the past few months
