Leonardo DiCaprio’s love life is the butt of Emmys joke amid Gigi Hadid rumours

Leonardo DiCaprio’s love life was the butt of the joke at Monday night’s Emmys in Los Angeles following his recent split from Camila Morrone, 25.

SNL star and host of the Emmys 2022 Kenan Thompson held no punches as he poked fun at the Oscar winner’s reputation of never publicly dating a woman over the age of 25.

Speaking about Zendaya’s recent 26th birthday during his opening monologue, Thompson quipped: “26 is a weird age in Hollywood...

“You’re old enough to play a highschooler but too old to date Leonardo DiCaprio,” which drew a laugh from the audience but left Zendaya putting her head in her hands.

It’s not the first time, the 47-year-old actor’s reputation for dating younger women has been the subject of public ribbing.

Earlier this year, comedienne Amy Schumer made a playful dig at DiCaprio while hosting the Oscars, joking: “He’s done so much to fight climate change and leave behind a cleaner, greener planet… for his girlfriends.”

While at the 2020 Golden Globes, the decorated screen star’s romance with a then 22-year-old Morrone came under comedic attack by host Ricky Gervais.

Referencing his film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Gervais quipped: “[It’s] almost three hours long – it’s an epic.

“Leonardo DiCaprio attended the premiere and by the end his date was too old for him.”

Pushing the joke even further, which had the audience, including DiCaprio, laughing, the Afterlife star continued: “Even Prince Andrew’s like, ‘Come on, mate, you’re nearly 50, son.’”

Last month, it was reported that DiCaprio and Morrone split up after five years together, shortly after her 25th birthday on June 16.

The Catch Me If You Can star and the model-turned-actress are believed to have “quietly” gone their separate ways earlier this summer after growing apart.

“Leo and Camila ended their relationship over the summer,” an insider told The Sun. “There are no bad feelings between them. It just came to a natural conclusion.”

The latest award show jibe comes as it’s reported that DiCaprio is “getting to know” supermodel Gigi Hadid, 27.

Multiple sources have told PEOPLE that the pair have been seen hanging out around New York City but insisted they’re not “dating” yet.

A second insider claimed: "Leo is definitely pursuing Gigi," while another added, "They’ve been seen hanging out with groups of people.

"It’s only been a few weeks since the split. Since then, he’s been hanging out with friends and family."

Hadid split from One Direction boybander Zayn Malik in October 2021 after dating on/off since 2015. The former couple welcomed a daughter, named Khai, in September 2020.

The Evening Standard has contacted Leonardo DiCaprio and Gigi Hadid’s reps for comment.
