Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci said that the behaviour of England's supporters helped inspire him and his side to their penalty shoot-out victory in Sunday's Euro 2020 final.
The match was overshadowed by disgraceful scenes as some Three Lions fans fought amongst themselves, while thousands without tickets broke into the stadium ahead of kick-off.
And despite pleas from Gareth Southgate not to do so, a large number of spectators booed the Italian national anthem before the game.
Bonucci, who scored Italy's equaliser in the second-half, was asked about this in an interview with Radio RAI.
And he claimed that rather than feeling intimidated, Italy's players - particularly their captain Giorgio Chiellini - were spurred on to get the win.
"They whistled the anthem. They thought they had brought it home," he said. "This, to me and the old man there [Chiellini] did nothing but increase our motivation. It was a personal satisfaction for me and Giorgio, who have not always been getting the praise we deserved."
He also said that the constant singing of England's anthem 'Three Lions' helped with motivation, adding: "We heard it day in day out ever since Wednesday night since the Denmark game that the cup would be coming home to London.
"Sorry for them but actually the cup will be taking a nice flight to Rome and that way Italians all over the world can savour this competition.
"It is for everyone, we said from day one it was for them and for us."
Meanwhile, England have been hit with four charges from UEFA over what took place before and during the match.
A statement released by the organisation on Tuesday read: "Disciplinary proceedings have been opened following the UEFA EURO 2020 final match between the national teams of Italy and England (1-1, Italy won 3-2 on penalties), played on 11 July at Wembley Stadium, London.
Charges against The English Football Association :
• Invasion of the field of play by its supporters - Article 16(2)(a) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR)
• Throwing of objects by its supporters - Article 16(2)(b) DR
• Disturbance caused by its supporters during the national anthem - Article 16(2)(g) DR
• Lighting of a firework by its supporters - Article 16(2)(c) DR
"The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) in due course.
"Separately, and in accordance with Article 31(4) DR, a UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector has been appointed to conduct a disciplinary investigation into events involving supporters which occurred inside and around the stadium.
"Information on this matter will be made available in due course."
