Leonard Floyd bet on himself last offseason by signing a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams. He was coming off a disappointing 2019 season in which he had a career-low three sacks, three tackles for loss and 40 tackles.
The Rams gave Floyd the opportunity to prove he was capable of bouncing back and that’s exactly what he did. He racked up 10.5 sacks, 11 tackles for lsos and 19 QB hits, all of which were career-highs for the 28-year old.
He garnered a lot of interest in free agency this year, and the Rams were thrilled to re-sign him to a four-year, $64 million deal. Now in the mix for the next few years, Floyd wants to keep building on what he accomplished in 2020.
“I just believe in continuing to build off what I’ve done, just going in these next few years and continuing to grow as a player,” Floyd said after signing his contract. “I feel great. I thought negotiating with the Rams and I get to come back and play here for a few more years.”
Les Snead called Floyd “more than just an edge rusher,” lauding his ability to stop the run, set the edge and even drop into coverage. He’s truly a well-rounded defender capable of impacting the game in multiple ways.
He does benefit from playing alongside Aaron Donald, but Floyd impressed in his own right last season.
