Leonard Floyd named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Leonard Floyd has been better than expected in his first season with the Los Angeles Rams, already matching his career-high with seven sacks in just nine games. He was dominant against the Seahawks in Week 10, recording three sacks and recovering a fumble.

For his efforts, Floyd was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week. This is the first time in his career he’s won a weekly award in four-plus seasons in the NFL.

Floyd hit Russell Wilson five times, which is the most he’s had in a single game during his NFL career. His fumble recovery came on a low snap to Wilson, making a heads-up play to pounce on the ball near the line of scrimmage.

Floyd is the fourth Rams player to win a weekly award this season, joining Aaron Donald, Johnny Hekker and Micah Kiser.

This offseason, he signed a one-year contract with the Rams worth a fully guaranteed $10 million. He will become a free agent in 2021 and based on the way he’s played this season, he might price himself out of the Rams’ range.
