On Sunday, Leonard Floyd recorded his first sack since Week 1.
That had meaning for the Bears’ outside linebacker — “It felt great, but it would have been better if we’d gotten a win,” he said Wednesday — but he refuted the notion pressure had been building over the previous seven weeks.
“Not really,” he said. “Because my objective is to go out and play hard and try to help the team get wins.”
For Floyd, that means being the stout run defender that he’s always been — but hoping to add to his pass rush totals. He has three sacks this season and is on pace for six, which would rank the second-most in his four-year career. The Bears, though, expect more than the seven he posted as a rookie.
Floyd should be solid against the run again Sunday. The Lions average 3.7 rushing yards per attempt. Only six teams — including the Bears — average less.
“Stopping the run is a mindset,” he said. “You just have to wake up with the mindset to stop the run today.”
