Leona Maguire trails by three going into final round in Michigan

Leona Maguire's efforts to win a first LPGA Tour title stuttered in the third round of the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan.

A two-under par 70 leaves the 26-year-old in second place but three shots behind American Nelly Korda going into Sunday's final round.

Maguire started the day three clear at the top of the leaderboard after rounds of 65 and 64.

But the Cavan golfer started slowly and her run of six straight pars was broken by a bogey on the par three 7th hole.

Maguire answered back with a birdie on the par five 8th before play was halted for a weather delay.

When she came back out on the course she birdied the 11th and 14th holes before signing for a 70.

It means she will be in the final group alongside Korda who shot a 10-under-par 62 to go three clear at the top.
