Leona Maguire tied fourth at halfway point in LPGA event in Antrim

Leona Maguire is in a tie of fourth place at the halfway stage of the ISPS Handa World Invitational after shooting a 68 in her second round on Friday Morning.

The Cavan star made an impressive start to her tournament yesterday carding a 68 for a score of 5-under par at Galgorm Golf Club in Antrim. The 27-year old shot a steady round of 69 at Massereene golf club in Antrim early this morning.

Maguire currently finds herself 8-under par for the tournament and is three shots behind the current leader Lauren Coughlin.

The ISPS Handa World Invitational is a unique tournament where both a mens and womens tournament is played. The prize fund is $3 million and is split evenly between the two tournaments.

In order to facilitates the simultaneous tournaments, two golf courses are used. Both courses, Galgorm and Massereene, are located in County Antrim.

Should Maguire take home victory this week it would cap a remarkable year for the Irish star. Maguire won the LPGA Drive On Championship in February by three strokes, which was her first win on tour.
