Leona Maguire saw her medal charge scuppered by a triple bogey and aims to go really low in the last round of the Olympic golf in Tokyo.
Maguire, 26, started moving day with three birdies to rocket up the leaderboard - and to within a shot of the medals.
But it all went wrong on the ninth when she hit a tree and took 7 on the par 4 - similar to Shane Lowry's final round challenge collapsing with a double bogey on the same hole five days ago.
“I’m frustrated,” said Maguire. “I got off to a much better start and I felt like I made up a lot of ground early and then just threw it away on 9, pretty much.
"I didn’t feel like I hit all that bad of a shot, like I thought I hit the second shot real nice and it just clipped that tree.
"Things could have gone a lot differently if that ball had just gone a little bit higher, a little bit lower but, that’s golf.”
Maguire, who shot a record-equalling 61 in a major in her Evian Championship final round before travelling to Tokyo, is looking for a similar scoreline as she plays catch-up tomorrow.
Organisers and now hopeful that the weather will play ball and allow the final round to go ahead.
"I tried to stay as patient as I could," added Maguire. "I didn't drive the ball as well today so didn't give myself as many chances as I would have liked.
"But it was nice to get a birdie on 17, I suppose, coming in to get back under par and hopefully I'll have one more shot at it tomorrow."
Maguire is tied for 18th but her Ireland team-mate Stephanie Meadow shot a 68 after Thursday's 66 to move into a tie for 10th.

"I felt like if I just kept hitting it in there at some point, they’d have to drop," said Meadow.
"I had a few misreads and a couple of bad putts, it wasn’t like I was hitting them perfect, so I couldn’t get too mad at myself. It was part of it, but it was nice to finish strong.
“I hit it really well today. It could have been a low one, but I’m just happy I gave myself a lot of opportunities and hopefully I can tie that together tomorrow with making some putts. I’m in with a chance, so that’s all I can ask for.”
Just as Lowry and Rory McIlroy were paired together in their third round, so Maguire and Meadow were earlier today.
“I mean even for the both of us to be on the LPGA tour coming from a country that really had no one before, I think that’s pretty amazing,” Meadow reflected.
"We’ve come a long way. She’s had a great year and hopefully I can build off this and have a good end of the season. I think we’ve done pretty well for ourselves, so I think she is as proud as I am.
"I think it's probably the Symetra Tour since we played together, we were talking about it out there, it was 2018 so it's been a while.
"But obviously we played a lot of rounds together as amateurs. It's nice, I was hoping to feed off her and she got off to a really nice start, and that kind of motivated me to keep going.
"She had a little blip but other than that she played really solid."
