Leona Maguire continues good form in Hugel-Air Premia LA Open after highest ever placing

Leona Maguire shot an opening round 69 at the Hugel-Air Premia LA Open on Wednesday as her good form continued.

The Cavan golfer recorded her highest ever placing in the LPGA Tour in Hawaii last weekend after finishing second in the Lotte Championship.

She was back in action on Wednesday and is five shots off the lead after hitting six birdies in her opening round.

But she also had a double bogey on the fourth hole, with two other dropped shots leaving her two under par going into the second round.

Meanwhile, Stephanie Meadow is on two over after shooting a round of 73.

America's Jessica Korda leads on seven under par after hitting eight birdies and just one bogey.

Hong Kong's Tiffany Chan and Thailand's Moriya Jutanugarn are both just one shot behind her.
