Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman has heaped praise on Tom Davies and Andre Gomes for their roles in the Toffees' 2-0 win over West Ham.
Goals from Bernard and substitute Gylfi Sigurdsson made sure of the points at Goodison Park to secure a much-needed win for Marco Silva's side.
In truth, the margin of victory could have been much greater with Everton spurning a host of presentable opportunities, as well as Yerry Mina seeing his header bizarrely ruled out.
It was a dominant display that lifts Everton out of the relegation zone and up the table ahead of the remaining nine Premier League fixtures this weekend.
It was a much-improved performance and Osman pinpointed the efforts of Davies and Gomes in midfield as the catalyst behind the improvement.
With Fabian Delph and Morgan Schneiderlin both ruled out with minor injuries, Davies was awarded his first start of the season in midfield alongside the ex-Barcelona man.
Speaking to BT Sport after the match, Osman said: "So far this season, there's been too many performances that haven't been up to the standard you expect but they've shown what they're capable of out there on the field today.
"I thought Gomes was terrific but I thought Davies deserved a lot of credit next to him.
"He really got around and helped to set the tempo and the team around him really did respond.
"If they can perform like that more often than not then those performances will bring points."
The win lifted the Toffees up to 12th in the table on 10 points after nine games after a first league triumph since the beginning of September.
