Leon King Rangers 'marketing campaign' slammed as Craig Moore accuses hidden party of transfer dark arts

Concerned Craig Moore reckons an agent looks to be conducting a "marketing campaign" on Rangers defender Leon King.

The 18-year-old has been thrust into the Ibrox spotlight this season amid mounting injury concerns for Gio van Bronckhors t at the heart of his defence, and has racked up two Champions League group stage appearances that have reportedly put clubs across Europe on alert. Manchester United, Leeds and Newcastle have all been credited with an interest, while some reports suggest Bundesliga outfits Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt are keeping tabs on the prospect.

However, Moore reckons King should be in no rush to leave Ibrox as he ramps up his first-team minutes at Rangers this season to continue his development. The Australian reckons there are hidden parties at work looking to ramp up the hype around the Scotland youth cap in a bid to secure a big money winter window move.

When asked if he thought Rangers would lose Leon King at this stage amid links with Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt, Moore told The Go Radio Football Show: "No. Nowadays we are not reading just one club we are reading 10 clubs.

"You then start to understand there is a little bit of marketing campaign behind the scenes. Leon King as a young player has come in and done extremely well.

"We have got to remember he is 18 years of age and is getting first-team minutes. That is the most important thing in any young player's development, and he is getting game time in the first-team minutes.

"These clubs that are being mentioned; he is not going to go and play. He is in the right place and I'm sure he wants to stay."

When host Paul Cooney brought up the prospect of an agent working behind the scene to manoeuvre an Ibrox exit, Moore cut in: "Yeah but he's playing. He's playing and that's the most important thing for any player especially a young one."
