Leon King commits to Rangers as Ibrox club confirm lucrative deal to fend off Premier League giants

Highly-rated youngster Leon King has signed his first professional contract at Rangers.

MailSport told earlier this week how the 16-year-old was set to become one of the best paid youngster's in the Ibrox side's history.

And now the defender has put pen to paper on a deal until May 2022.

It's understood the package will be worth a six-figure sum to King and his family, one that fends off interest from Manchester City , Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson insists the boyhood Rangers fan is desperate to succeed at the club.

“I am delighted we have an agreement with Leon King," Wilson told the Rangers website.

“Leon has been a priority for us and we are excited about his potential. He has been demonstrating that potential both for Rangers and Scotland and we are excited about his future.

“As a Rangers fan he has a huge desire to develop his career at Rangers and is impressing the staff on a daily basis with his application and attitude.

“Leon receives fantastic support from his family as well as all of our staff at Auchenhowie who are pushing Leon to maximise his potential on a daily basis."
