Leon King agrees historic Rangers contract that sees Manchester United and Arsenal left empty-handed

Rangers will make highly-rated kid Leon King one of the best paid youngsters in the club’s history when he signs a deal at Ibrox this week.

We revealed earlier this week the 16-year-old was closing in on penning his first professional contract until 2022.

Now King has agreed a deal that sees Rangers beat off interest from the likes of Manchester City, Spurs, Manchester United and Arsenal for his signature.

And Mailsport understands the bumper two-year package will be worth a six-figure sum to King and his family.

The teenager is one of Scotland’s most prodigious talents and Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is a big admirer.

That’s why the club have pushed the boat out to tie down their prized asset and stave off Premier League big guns.

A one-on-one meeting with the manager is believed to have pushed King into committing his future to Rangers after initially rejecting their first contract offer.

The centre-back has been included in first-team matchday squads - and has already played for the Ibrox reserve side, despite his age.
