Leon Balogun sends anti-racism message as Rangers star backs PSG and Basaksehir move

Leon Balogun has praised PSG and Istanbul Basaksehir players for walking off the pitch after a racism row in the Champions League.

Both sets of players refused to play after Basaksehir assistant boss Pierre Webo was allegedly racially abused during the clash at the Parc des Princes.

It resulted in the game being suspended and the players refused to return to the pitch until the fourth official - who is accused of being racist towards Webo - was removed from the game.

But it was impossible to do that on Tuesday night with only the VAR official available to do it, and then the fourth official would have had to replace him in the TV booth.

Former Chelsea striker Demba Ba was visibly angry at the official and questioned why he referred to Webo as the 'black guy' when he wouldn't do the same for a white man.

Basaksehir players decided to walk off the field and were soon joined by PSG players, led by France superstar Kylian Mbappe.

And now Rangers defender Balogun has taken to social media to heap praise on both sets of players for their reaction to the incident.

He tweeted a raised fist in five different skin tones as well as the words: "Well done PSG and Istanbul Basaksehir."

It's not the first time the centre back has stood up for inequality since moving to Ibrox, after tweeting in support of the End SARS movement in Nigeria.

That called for the end to police brutality the SARS unit blamed for most of the incidents.
