Leo Varadkar has stoutly defended himself ahead of a Garda criminal investigation interview.
He profusely denied doing “anything illegal, or corrupt, or self-interested.”
The Tánaiste and Fine Gael leader is bracing himself for a date with detectives in the coming weeks over his leaking of a confidential government document to a pal in April 2019.
The Irish Mirror last month revealed details of a criminal investigation into the incident which saw the then-Taoiseach hand over a €210million Irish Medical Organisation (IMO) GP draft contract to a friend of his, Dr Maitiu Ó Tuathail.
Dr Ó Tuathail was head of the IMO’s bitter rival doctors’ organisation, the NAGP (National Association of General Practitioners) at the time.
Mr Varadkar told Pat Kenny on Newstalk: “I didn’t do anything illegal, corrupt, or self-interested.
“There was no personal gain, no personal benefit.
“I did no harm to anyone and conferred no advantage on anyone."

The Tánaiste added: “As of today, no public authority has been in touch with me, to tell me what I am accused of, what crime or law I might have broken.”
Meanwhile, Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said he has “no intention” of meeting Sinn Féin leader, Mary Lou McDonald, over the issue after she wrote to him last night looking for a one-on-one.
A spokesman said: “The Taoiseach received a letter last night and gets letters on a very regular basis from Mary Lou McDonald.
“In many instances, these letters are purely political.
“It’s a tactic used on a far too frequent basis by the SF leader and it lacks sincerity.
“The Taoiseach has no intention of responding on this occasion.”
